Welcome to the Hypoparathyroidism Association Website
Welcome to the only association in the world devoted to all forms of Hypoparathyroidism, a rare medical disorder. This website contains all of the newsletters published since our beginning in August of 1994, pamphlets, articles, patient studies, a forum and other items of interest. Come on in and look around!

Current Patient Studies

The Hypoparathyroidism Association has endorsed patient participation in patient studies for several years. Participation not only benefits medical researchers and patients, it helps increase our knowledge and understanding of hypoparathyroidism.

There are currently two patient studies underway. One is being conducted by Dr. Karen Winer at the National Institutes of Health and the other by Drs. John Bilezikian and Mishaela Rubin at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. We hope others will follow, leading to a more effective FDA approved regime for treating Hypoparathyroidism

In addition, there is an ongoing patient survey being conducted by Dr. Jim Norman, of Tampa, Florida, for all surgical onset Hypoparathyroidism patients. This particular survey specifically covers the anticipated and more often unanticipated consequences of surgery on a patient’s thyroid gland or parathyroid glands.
